Strategic Planning

Strategic Consulting & Coaching (SCC) believes creating and sustaining a high-impact organization requires a comprehensive strategic planning process that begins with a solid understanding of an organization’s external and internal environments, along with identifying opportunities and threats. This helps lay a foundation for the organization’s evolution and expansion. SCC’s process assesses the organization’s distinctive advantages, core competencies, and strategic challenges.

To begin, SCC will conduct an environmental scan (utilizing primary and secondary resources) and a SWOT analysis to assess each of these components. To identify opportunities and threats, SCC will conduct focus groups with stakeholders and will provide the organization with an extensive report on the results. SCC will then work with the Strategic Planning Team (as well as key Board and staff as appropriate) to craft a strategic plan. Throughout the strategic planning process, SCC will collaborate with the Strategic Planning Team.

Listen: Survey and interview board members staff and other stakeholders to understand the organization's current realities. Conduct research to identify and understand external trends that impact operations.

Learn: Analyze and distill the scan findings and select the best lens for finding the most meaning - giving you greater knowledge, new and insights, and increased clarity.

Plan: Foster authentic engagement that gives ownership to all participant voices through inclusive facilitation and apply effective processes and models that give structure to the planning process.

Prioritize: Create a bold roadmap of action that guides and aligns organizational resources to increase your mission impact.

Do: Build bridges from plan to execution through workplans or dashboards to support your success.

The new strategic plan will include actionable steps and key benchmarks to reach the organization’s goals, and measurable strategies to ensure the organization stays on target. Throughout the strategic planning process, key benchmarks and metrics will be identified to measure progress toward goals. This plan will serve as a guide for the Board and leadership, program management and development, fundraising, external communications, integration of outreach efforts, and internal capacity building.
